“Aging Well & Living Well…Doing More in 2004”

“Aging Well & Living Well…Doing More in 2004” is the theme for the 31st annual Senior Citizens Appreciation Day scheduled for Friday, May 14, 2004.  Sponsored by NACOLG’s Department of Aging Services, the festivities will take place at the Florence/Lauderdale Coliseum from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.  All activities, including lunch, are free of charge and geared toward area residents aged 60 and older.  This year’s health and nutrition theme features the Court House Racquet Club’s Senior Group, a veggie-look-alike costume contest as well as live entertainment provided by the Mars Hill Jazz Band, Senator Bobby Denton and Hibbitt Middle School’s 6th Grade Chorus.   Informational vendor booths will be open to the public throughout the event while all senior participants compete for random drawings of door prizes, including weekend vacation packages, cash and state-of-the-art exercise equipment.    For more information or to reserve your space as a participating vendor, please call the Northwest Alabama Council of Local Governments at (256) 389-0532.
